domusmodus derives from the joining of two words that translate the two premises that motivated the creation of the company: the idea of innovation and the idea of respect.
Domus designates, in the original form, urban habitation. From it derived the word dominus, meaning lord or master of the house. With the degrading of the urban life, motivated by wars and epidemics, the rock and lime domus reduced themselves to a minimum expression, giving way to the casae, wooden and clay houses. For a long time, the domus were restricted to palaces and churches: they were the house of the lords or of the Lord, thus the Italian designation of duomo (dome or domus) for the main church.
The idea of innovation is implicit in the domus here proposed, with the reinterpretation of the house, understanding it not just as an urban dwelling, but as a house of excellence in any place.
The differences that separated so much the rural from the urban habitat have been mitigated. The third millennium will serve as a turn towards the ultimate civilizational change, where the local and rural population cease to exist, giving way to “citizens of the world”.
The idea of respect is also part of the most contemporary etymological origin of the word domus and accepts , in a decisive form, the new type of civilization, the “citizen of the world”, understanding him as a unique individual. domusmodus’ houses and projects are thus proposals of identity and excellence.
The second word – modus – also has its meaning based on the premises of innovation and respect. The meaning is in the “how” to operate, “how” to act. Its applications embody vast field of activities, from the construction technologies, to the way of caring for the terrain, to reveal idea, to receiving a client, to interpreting nature itself.
Summarising, the name domusmodus contains the aspiration of the company, which is the unique approach in the Architectural field, as it includes “what is done” – domus, in its most deepest sense – and “how it is done” – modus, in the context of the company.
